The Indian car manufacturer Tata Motors, plans to bring the Tata Nano to Europe by 2011.

Tata, chairman of the group that owns Land Rover and Jaguar, said although the car had been designed for India, there had been "considerable interest" in the west.

The European Nano will be rolled out within two years and the US Nano within three. The western models of the Nano will be larger and more expensive and will also have to meet higher safety standards, than the Nano designed for the Indian market. The European Nano would cost in the region of £4,000.
