The latest repair solution from SWAG is for the 1.4 TDI 3-cylinder engines by VW. In these units the balancer shaft and the oil pump are mounted on the ladder-type frame and are driven by a chain from the crankshaft.

SWAG technical experts point out that that the components of the balancer shaft drive are susceptible to wear due to high loads and this can be made even worse by a challenging driving style and exceeding the oil change intervals. In the worst case, the chain may break, resulting in serious engine damage.

The crankshaft gearwheel is not available separately from the manufacturer and can only be ordered with the complete crankshaft assembly. This makes replacement a costly exercise.

SWAG offers a convenient solution to this issue in the form of two balancer shaft drive repair kits. SWAG kit 99 13 2266 comes without a crankshaft gear wheel and SWAG 30 94 3667 comes with a crankshaft gearwheel. This combination allows technicians to perform a high quality professional repair but keep the customer happy by keeping costs to more manageable proportions.

The crankshaft gear wheel is also available separately (SWAG 30 94 0113). These parts are for 1.4 TDi engines for various models produced by Audi, Seat, Skoda and VW.
