VW introduces you to Sedric

The VW group has given a glimpse of how it sees the future of autonomous mobility with its new concept vehicle. The Sedric Concept (a combination of the words “self-driving car”) is said to be an Autonomous Level 5 car, which means zero human involvement in driving.

Sedric is also the first concept to be a group rather than marque inspired design and is termed a "cross-brand ideas platform".

The concept requires no driver position which means the design is radical. The inside therefore looks more like a futuristic lounge than a car, where passengers can talk to Sedric about destinations, times and traffic. Sedric will also act as something of a personal assistant handling communication and entertainment.

Because it is self driving, you can also summon Sedric rather than having to walk through a car park. The vehicle also comes with a control button which would not only allow customers to call their own personal autonomous Sedric, which could come in a VW brand of their choice, or to call a shared vehicle if they happen to be in a different location.

Sedric is not anticipated to ever make production, but does clearly show the VW design teams train of autonomous thought.
