TRW Electric Blue has won the Innovation Award in the category “Parts, Vehicle Equipment and Spare Parts” at the international Equip Auto fair. The brake pad, specifically for electric and hybrid vehicles was introduced by ZF Aftermarket in September 2018.

TRW Electric Blue significantly reduces interior noise and brake dust and features a range that has expanded to offer 92% coverage for hybrid and 97% coverage for electric cars in Europe. The TRW Electric Blue portfolio for the growing electric and hybrid vehicle market was particularly highly commended by the award judges.

The electrification of the driveline and reduction of CO₂ emissions has been a key development focus of ZF. The technology group offers hybrid modules, plug-in hybrid transmissions and electric drives for electric vehicles, including power electronics and system integration.

ZF's Aftermarket Division is involved at an early stage in the development of the automotive technology of the future. This allows the development and implementation of new solutions for products and services in the aftermarket such as the world's first brake pad for electric and hybrid vehicles. The company says this high level of innovation is coupled with demand-oriented service quality, with all TRW Electric Blue brake pads supplied with the appropriate accessories to guarantee a quick fit.

Helmut Ernst, Head of ZF Aftermarket said, “The innovation award for the TRW Electric Blue brake pad is confirmation of our role as an active designer of the Next Generation Aftermarket. We are very pleased to be able to offer our partners this innovative product for almost all electric and hybrid vehicles in Europe, from Tesla and Nissan Leaf to Toyota Prius.”
