Suplex was at Mechanex promoting its coil springs and suspension components range and reported particular interest in it’s strut kits.

Suplex UK MD, Daniel G White explained some of the benefits of fitting complete strut kits, as opposed to replacing coil springs. He said, “Replacing coil springs is not only a difficult and time consuming job on many models, but can also sometimes be dangerous if not tackled correctly.” He added, “Replacing the complete strut kit is not only faster and safer, but gives the complete peace of mind of a high quality repair.”

Daniel gave the example of a Ford Mondeo where a spring replacement will take well over an hour, or more if parts are damaged or corroded. He pointed out that the complete strut could be replaced in as little as ten minutes. He also spoke about other benefits commenting, “With the complete strut kit, all the parts required are in the box for an effective repair. With spring replacement you often find other associated parts are damaged and these have to be ordered individually, which is inconvenient and time consuming.”

Daniel says that in many other markets, especially the USA, strut kits have become the norm because of their greater convenience, reduced fitting time and safety. He says, “Strut kits provide a great solution for both the garage and the motorist when it comes to coil spring replacement and overall are probably more cost effective for the customer in the long run.”
