This means they can always assist customers with correct product identification which can save huge amounts of time and money.”
David points out that with new technology it has become absolutely essential to replace electrical components like for like and even a very slight discrepancy will cause serious issues. He comments, “A good example is that especially with six speed gearboxes you will sometimes find that a wrongly sourced alternator will fit on a vehicle, but it will not work because the ECU does not recognise it.”
Such mistakes can be very expensive and tie consuming, meaning delays and dissatisfied customers. The problem of incorrect product identification is made worse for garages because with many electrical components, product returns will not be possible once packaging is opened.
