With cash still generally in short supply and smaller greener cars now
the order of the day, supercar makers have to re-evaluate their futures and do some alternative thinking. Porsche for example, appear to be looking down-market with head of development Wolfgang Duerheimer, saying that the company’s number one priority is now to produce a car significantly cheaper than the current "bottom-of-the-range" Porsche Boxster. He hopes greater cooperation with merger partners VW will make this possible.
Meanwhile Lamborghini is going green, well greener, with CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealing that they will release a hybrid version of the Gallardo in 2015. He said this would use electrical power for city driving but would keep the full petrol engine Lamborghini experience for the open road.
