While some additives are very easy to use, to tackle more complex issues, some additives require the expertise of a professional to be at their most effective. Oil and additive specialised LIQUI MOLY recognises this and offers its Pro-Line additives range designed exclusively for workshops.

Tim Keller, Export Area Manager at LIQUI MOLY describes the additives as “Liquid tools for professionals” and says they can be easily identified by their black containers. The line includes several dozen products. Many of them were developed due to suggestions from workshops which had a problem and did not have a simple solution to hand. The range is sold exclusively to workshops as its active ingredient concentration is higher than with 'normal' additives for drivers and their use requires expert knowledge. Tim Keller says, “They are an invaluable resource for every workshop as the alternative is often a mechanical solution which would cost much more time.”

The Pro-Line series can be divided into two groups. On the one hand, additives which exist only in their Pro-Line version, and on the other, additives which are a stronger version of conventional additives. In the latter, the dosage requirements must be precisely upheld due to the higher active ingredient concentration.

Pro-Line Engine Flush for cleaning the oil cycle is added immediately before an oil change. The engine then runs at idle for a few minutes so that the active ingredients can dissolve deposits and dirt which are then drained together with the used oil. In order to remove encrustations on the injection system there is Pro-Line Diesel System Cleaner or Pro-Line Petrol System Cleaner. They are simply added to the tank.

If the engine's inlet tract or throttle valve is dirty, then removing and mechanically cleaning them is laborious and time-consuming. It is easier and quicker with the Pro-Line Throttle Valve Cleaner or the Pro-Line Diesel Intake System Cleaner. Here all that is required is the air hose be released in order to gain access to the throttle valve or intake system. Thanks to the long spray probe the cleaning additive can be sprayed in precisely the places where there is the most dirt while the engine is still running. The active ingredients dissolve the encrustations and within no time at all everything is clean again.

Tim also points out that if the workshop explains to their customers how they solved the problems in their car with the help of additives, then there is the opportunity of a subsequent sale of 'normal' additives. He says, “This is an additional business with attractive margins. It allows the workshop to repeatedly benefit from additives.”
