Galway’s ŠKODA dealership, Monaghan & Sons will hold a family open day in aid of Dogs Trust. The event, which will include kids’ activities, music and refreshments will take place between 11am and 3pm on November 17th.

Dogs Trust is Ireland’s largest dog welfare charity, and it works to reduce the number of stray dogs that are destroyed in pounds each year and to educate the public about responsible dog ownership. Monaghan & Sons have been Dogs Trust’s chosen vehicle supplier of ŠKODA vehicles since 2009. Since opening its state of the art rehoming centre in Finglas, Dublin in November 2009, Dogs Trust has helped save the lives of over 5,500 stray and abandoned puppies and dogs.

At Monaghan & Sons’ open day, customers and their families can enjoy kids’ activities such as colouring and face painting, refreshments and the opportunity to meet the dogs and their carers at the mobile rehoming unit and learn more about the work of Dogs Trust. Monaghan & Sons will also be carrying out mini valets in return for a fixed contribution to Dogs Trust of €10. Galway Bay FM will broadcast live from Monaghan & Sons from midday and musician Sharon Shannon will also pay a visit on the day.

Earlier this year, ŠKODA Ireland announced its partnership with Dogs Trust. As part of the agreement, Dogs Trust were supplied with two free ŠKODA vehicles, including the ŠKODA Roomster, to complement their current fleet of ŠKODA vehicles, which were carefully selected to fit the exact needs of the dogs. In addition to this, ŠKODA dealerships nationwide are collecting funds and raising awareness about the Dogs Trust partnership. On the day, Monaghan & Sons will hand over a new dog’s ambulance van to Dogs Trust. This van has been purchased due to the generosity of the donors and supporters of Dogs Trust. The ambulance will allow Dogs Trust to save even more puppies and adult dog lives all over Ireland.

As part of the Dogs Trust national campaign, attendees are encouraged to bring along old print cartridges and mobile phones to donate to Dogs Trust for recycling.

Speaking about the open day, Leo Monaghan, dealer principal, Monaghan & Sons, Galway said “we look forward to welcoming local customers and friends to the showrooms for our open day on 17th November. It will be a great family day out and an opportunity to learn more about the work of Dogs Trust and raise much needed funding for this worthy cause.”
