Car giant Ford has been a little quiet when it comes to new models in recent years, but all that could be about to change according to CEO Jim Farley. Speaking at a recent investor meeting about a new EV to be premiered on August 11th he suggested it could be something of a “Model T moment”.
To put that into some kind of context, the Model T, introduced in 1908, sold 15 million units in 19 years, worldwide and also revolutionised vehicle mass production.
Ford is going to unveil a new electric vehicle platform next week which it is hoping will be a new technology breakthrough that will be able to compete with that latest low priced Chinese EVs
Whether the announcement, in Kentucky next week, lives up to the 15 million, Model T hype remains to be seen.
