General Motors (GM) has sold Opel to Canada's Magna International.

The deal will protect Opel from GM's likely bankruptcy. The Canadian car parts maker will acquire Opel with a €1.5 billion bridging loan from the German Government. It will have to contribute €300 million to keep Opel running in the short term.
