This little 1999 Nissan Micra was still going strong. Its owner now only covered only a nominal mileage each year. The Nissan always came in once a year for a service, and an inspection, prior to presenting it for the NCT. The owner commented that she was looking forward to the cars 30th birthday. The Nissan was safely garaged when parked up, which had helped to keep it in pretty good nick for the age.
Other that the occasional note on brake balance, no doubt the result of the low use, the Micra normally sailed through the NCT.
When checking the Micra over this year, there were signs that the ravages of age had started to attack the brake hoses. I found one of the rear hoses badly split and perished, the owner decided that replacing all four would be a prudent move, this meant that the brakes could be bled out just once.
The new brake hoses were fitted, and the brakes system bled out with fresh fluid in the system. The Nissan was ready to present for the NCT, which it passed again, giving it another year on the road.
