NGK Spark Plugs is sponsoring a car in a rally with a difference that will travel through nine countries in just four days raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The OE spark plug, glow plug and NTK Lambda sensor supplier has teamed up with one of its UK distributors, Randstad Ltd, to take part in The Two Ball Banger Rally. The team will be competing in the 1200-mile rally in a retired London TX1 taxi which is being customised by expert TV mechanic Edd China.
Phil Dowd, Sales Director of Randstad Ltd, who is taking part in the 38 team rally, said, “What started off as a chat in the pub has now snowballed into us taking part in the rally for charity. Myself and Randstad engineer Chris Fimblet plus four of our local garage customers are looking to raise around £5000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Edd China, who I have known for a number of years, is helping work on the car.”
The Two Ball Rally will see the teams leaving from Saint-Omer in France and travelling though Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Monaco before finishing back in France at Nice.
Phil is grateful for the support given by NGK Spark Plugs, commenting, “It is great that NGK has chosen to sponsor us. We are a distributor of all their components and they are a fantastic company to deal with who have excellent products. I always hold them up as an example of how suppliers should conduct business.”
Tim Ward, Deputy General Manager, Sales & Marketing, NGK Spark Plugs said, “We are delighted to sponsor the team in the Two Ball Rally. The event sounds great fun but more importantly it will raise funds for what is such a worthwhile charity.”
