70 reg number plates arrive on newly registered UK vehicles from the start of September and for the first time some will feature a green band. The new plate design is part of an initiative designed to promote electric vehicles.

The green band is on the left side, where the blue GB band normally appears. It is hoped that it will encourage more drivers to choose electric and will make the cars easier to identify for added incentives such as lower cost parking and free admission to zero-emission zones.

Nissan UK has been showcasing the new plates on the latest Leaf models.
