Application Guide & Catalogue, once again spotlights the need for independent service technicians to specify the correct oil for every vehicle that passes through their workshop. "This is especially true of businesses targeting vehicles under the opportunities presented by EU Block Exemption legislation,” says Comma Sales & Marketing Director, Mike Bewsey. "It is now commonplace for vehicle manufacturers to insist on their own, very specific oil formulations being used as a warranty-critical condition of servicing in the aftermarket."

Comma's application tables reveal that the number of cars requiring a fully synthetic 5w-30 engine oil that is fully compliant with vehicle manufacturers' "original-fill" specifications, has risen by 25% since the start of 2008. Within this group, there is a steadily growing trend towards  ACEA "C" classification "Reduced SAPS" oils, to protect 3-way catalytic converters (CATs) and diesel particulate filters (DPFs).

Overall, the 2009/10 Comma Application Guide lists 5,024 individual models, up from 4,356 in 2008. Of these, no less than 68% now need to be serviced in the aftermarket with a fully or semi-synthetic manufacturer specific oil, as compared to 60% last year.

The Comma Application 2009/10 can now be hung direct on Comma's PMO Oil Stand which each spec. of oil that today’s workshop requires.
