Munster journalists won the Irish Journalists Interpro golf title sponsored by Colm Quinn BMW at Tuam Golf Club in May.

In the tighest contest in the 39-year history of the event, the Munster team came from behind on day two to nick the title by a single point from overnight leaders Leinster and Ulster to take the honours for the second year in a row. Meanwhile, the Connacht team which hosted the event in the North Galway course had to settle for fourth.

Leinster lead with 167 points after day, Munster were second on 164 with Ulster a further two points adrift on 162.

By the finish on day two, the Munster team had accumulated 327 points, just a single point ahead of both Leinster and Ulster who both finished on 326.

Colm Quinn BMW, Galway and Athlone were the main sponsors of the event for 2016. Next year the event will be held at a Leinster venue when the 40th anniversary will be celebrated.
