The Mechanics Association of Ireland (MAI) recently held a very successful training evening on CAN Communications and Diagnostics, which was attended by over 70 mechanics from all over Ireland, including attendees from as far afield as Donegal.

The training evening was hosted by MKW Training at their training facility in the Kingswood Business Park close to Dublin’s Naas Road. MKW trainer, Keith Walsh delivered a very informative presentation on Bosch systems and demonstrated live, how to identify and diagnose a CAN communication fault. This was followed by an informal question and answers session.

Feedback from the event was extremely positive with all those attending finding it very worthwhile. The MAI is now in the process of organising a schedule of further events over the coming months, details of which will be available on the MAI Facebook page and will be publicised through Autobiz.

After the event MAI Chairman, James Donohoe, commented, "We are delighted to be able to hold these training events and the numbers attending seem to be growing at each event. I think lads are seeing the advantage and the need to up -skill in the trade. We're showing them that there are training resources out there to avail of and if they take advantage of them they'll be in a better position career wise. We'd like to thank MKW Training for hosting a very successful evening."

The training event coincided with the launch of a new MAI fundraising campaign. The association is  raffling a Snap-On toolbox worth €2950 to raise some much needed funds for future development. This will involve the construction of a new MAI website which will allow members to access a valuable information resource. Anyone can enter the raffle and entry costs €10, payable on PayPal to mechanicsassociationireland@gmail.com. The MAI is appealing to all mechanics and businesses associated with the garage trade to support the campaign and help develop a strong representative body for the industry.
