Mazda is planning to launch a new city car in 2009, to rival new models from other carmakers such as the Volkswagen Up! and Toyota’s iQ. The new model is expected to be badged as the Mazda 1 and will be shown in concept form at the Paris Motor Show in October. It is thought that the car is likely to feature Perspex panels, sliding side doors and seats for added flexibility. It is also likely to be powered by a combination of fuel cells and batteries, to minimise environmental impact.
