A warning has been issued about the dangers of using poor quality or

inappropriate vehicle jacks, after a mechanic is Scotland had a lucky escape, after being trapped under a Mercedes Sprinter Van.

Paul Robertson, was working underneath the Mercedes in Ardersier when the jack failed and sent the 2.5 tonne van down on top of him. He was under the van for several minutes before neighbours heard his calls and came to his aid. One of them, Jordan Coia, a regular gym goer, was able to lift the van enough for the other to pull the man out.  Mr. Robertson was taken to hospital and suffered a minor leg injury.

The incident highlights the importance of using a lifting device that is suitable for the vehicle and also the importance of having a firm base on which to use a jack.
