To celebrate MAHLE helping Audi to its fifth consecutive victory in the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hour endurance car race, MAHLE Aftermarket recently held its own special Le Mans Challenge for suppliers, customers and staff at its UK headquarters near Wolverhampton.

The victory highlights both the product development pedigree and original equipment quality of MAHLE filters this time helping to power Audi to its 13th Le Mans win. MAHLE has been a major supplier of engine components to the team since Audi began its domination of the French race 16 years ago.

To meet the special demands of coupling Audi’s latest 3.7 litre diesel engine with an electrical flywheel generator in the 550bhp R18 e-tron cars, which have combustion chamber pressure of 250 bar, MAHLE has developed unique cooling gallery steel pistons in MONOTHERM® design.
