Lexus Ireland has announced that Ireland rugby star Johnny Sexton has joined the car brand as an ambassador until 2019.

Ahead of a busy summer period of international fixtures and this Autumn's highly-anticipated Rugby World Cup, Johnny took time out of his training schedule and was this week presented with a Lexus RX450h.

Sexton, an icon of Irish rugby and an integral member of Joe Schmidt's current Irish side, has enjoyed successes at the highest level of international and club rugby and will now be able to enjoy the luxury and refinement  of the Lexus RX450h. Lexus is renowned for leading edge innovation combining hybrid technology with true luxury and bold assertive designs.

Speaking about the partnership Johnny Sexton said: ""I'm excited to be joining Lexus as a brand ambassador .It is a great time to be associated with the Lexus brand as they introduce their range of models like the new RX450h with dramatic styling and innovative technology"

The presentation of the vehicle was made by Lexus Ireland's, Kevin O'Reilly, acknowledging Johnny's continued outstanding rugby career to date and his contribution to Irish sport.

Kevin O'Reilly, Head of Lexus Ireland, welcomed Johnny on board in saying: "We are delighted that Johnny has chosen to become a brand ambassador for Lexus as we enter a new phase of growth and we look forward to a long and successful association.
