BMW drivers are the most aggressive when it comes to using their car horns, according to a new on-line survey.

 An online poll of 2000 British drivers by webuyanycar.com found 53 % of BMW drivers admitted to using their horns at least once every journey.

This is almost three times the UK national average of 18%. Other horn happy drivers where Jaguar 45%, Fiat 43% and Audi 39%. Nissan drivers were found to be the quietest, with 95% of them saying they will only use the horn in a real emergency.

According to the RSA use of the horn should be restricted to warning other road users of oncoming danger and making drivers aware of your presence for safety reasons, when reasonably necessary. This may come as a shock to some of those surveyed, especially the 6% who thought the horn was there to express anger and the same percentage who thought it was there to alert people to their arrival.
