NGK-sponsored World Speedway Champion Greg Hancock has undergone a successful operation to repair the damage in his left shoulder that cut his season short. The four-time champion dislocated the shoulder three times in a matter of days in July and shortly after took the decision to end his season early in order to fully repair the damage and ensure he returns in 2018 100 percent fit.

Greg is now back home in Stockholm and commented, “Obviously I’m pretty sore now but I’m glad that the operation was successful and a huge thank you to Dr Nordenson and his team for looking after me. Everyone knows that I didn’t want to end my season as early as I did but it was the right choice and now I’m fully focused on getting back to fitness and being 100% ready for next season.”

He added, “It’s going to be a long, hard Winter and my focus is fully on building the shoulder back up to full strength so I can get back on the bike as soon as possible. Thank you to all the people who have sent messages and supported me and I’ll see you next season!”

Mark Hallam, Marketing Manager, NGK Spark Plugs said, “We are delighted that Greg’s operation was a success and look forward to seeing him back racing next year.”
