Fiat Professional’s heavily revised latest generation Doblò Cargo has been voted as the VansA2Z Van of the Year for 2015.
Its redesigned exterior with a new front end, updated diesel engines, ride quality and refinement levels have improved and the gearchange has made it much slicker.
“Fiat's latest Doblò Cargo is an impressive package that combines good looks with some important practical benefits. That is why we have no hesitation in making it our Van of the Year for 2015,” says VansA2Z Managing Editor, Neil McIntee.
“In its fourth incarnation, Doblò Cargo has come a long way since the launch of the original model with its offbeat egg-box-style grille back in 2000. In its latest guise it benefits from significant improvements to its 1.3- and 1.6-litre MultiJet II diesel engines.
“One of the biggies is their ability to deliver more torque from lower revs which improves responsiveness compared with their predecessors; to the tune of around 40 per cent so far as the 90hp 1.3-litre is concerned ," he adds.
“One of Doblò Cargo's big plus-points is the breadth of the range. It encompasses two roof heights, two wheelbase lengths, five engines — as well as the foregoing power plants the line-up includes a 95hp 1.4-litre petrol unit and a 135hp 2.0-litre diesel — and four trim levels. The biggest model in the range, the XL, offers a 5.0m³ load box; and let us not forget the attractive little factory converted Doblò Work Up dropside,” concludes Neil.
