3M always bring new innovation to major exhibitions and Automechanika Birmingham was a prime example of this, with several new and recent product developments on display.

Attaching special attention was the New 3M Accuspray Pressurised HGP Spray Gun and Pressure Cup. This versatile gun provides a quick and easy method of matching textured coatings, with adjustable settings for improved productivity and reduced overspray. The pressure cup also means the gun can be used with highly viscous materials. This makes the gun ideal for application of materials such as underbody protection, anti-stonechip coatings and high build primers. The gun also has the advantage of being compatible with the 3M PPS system.

The very latest in abrasives technology was also on display and being demonstrated on the stand. For example, the 3M team were explaining how 737U Hookit Cubitron II Multihole Abasive Sheets can cut up to twice as fast and last twice as long as conventional abrasives, while also offering maximum dust extraction and efficient filler sanding. This improves productivity and reduces repair cycle times in the bodyshop.

3M Hookit 325U Blue Multihole Abrasive Discs were also attracting attention. These feature a newly engineered ceramic mineral material for a fast cut and long life. Available in 80 – 600 grades, the discs also have a new colour coded brushed nylon backing for quick disc changes.
