The future of on the road EV charging stations has come a step nearer with the news that a new electric vehicle forecourt is to open at Braintree in Essex in the UK.

The developers say it will make charging as simple and stress-free as using petrol stations and will be the first step in a £1bn programme to develop a UK-wide network of 100 or more Electric Forecourts over the next five years.

The forecourt has 30 EV chargers, including six Tesla Superchargers. Twelve of the other chargers are capable of operating at up to 350kW, adding 200 miles of range to a car in as little as 20 minutes. Each station also features a technical hotline to AA experts should a driver need assistance.

While the car is on charge, drivers can relax in on-site shops, cafes and an airport style lounge. There are also meeting rooms and even a wellbeing area.
