Kieran McGinty, from well-known DMG Motors in Donegal Town has been awarded the national title for ŠKODA Diagnostic Technician of the year and will now go forward to represent Ireland as part of Team ŠKODA Ireland in the International Final of the ŠKODA Service Challenge in June 2016.


Team ŠKODA Ireland will compete against 35 countries in the Finals, which take place in the Czech Republic in 2016.

Now in its sixth year, the ŠKODA Service Challenge has become a prestigious benchmark for measuring the qualities of the best employees in the global ŠKODA service network and includes four different categories: Parts & Accessory Sales Person of the Year; Best Overall Service Advisor; Best Overall Service Technician; and Best Overall Diagnostic Technician.

27 year old Kieran from outside Donegal town has been working at DMG Motors since he was a teenager under the direction of his late uncle, Dan McGinty. Having gained his qualifications three years ago, Kieran is an experiences diagnostic technician and is currently undertaking a 'Master Technician' course with ŠKODA to develop and improve his skills and knowledge even further.

Joining Kieran on Team ŠKODA Ireland in the Czech Republic in June will be Service Technician Jonathon Leonard, from E. Tarrant & Sons in Banteer, Co. Cork; Parts & Accessories Sales Person Joe Noone, from Monaghan’s and Sons in Galway; and Service Advisor – Martin Healy, from Noel Deasy Cars in Blackpool, Cork.

Commenting on the awards David Rave, Head of Aftersales ŠKODA Ireland said: “We are delighted to announce that Kieron is the category winner for the Diagnostic Technician Category in the ŠKODA service challenge for 2016. Team ŠKODA Ireland put in a very impressive performance in 2015, coming in at 4th position overall, so we are hopeful that we can claim the number one spot in June 2016”.

Also commenting, Kevin McGinty, Aftersales Manager, DMG Motors, said “Kieron is an extremely hard working and valued member of the DMG Motors team and we are very proud that a representative from our dealership has claimed the national title. We wish him all the best in the international event and hope he does the dealership proud!”
