although its ownership may have changed, the Mini brand continues to go from strength to strength and has big plans for expansion over the coming years.
Since coming under the ownership of BMW, the Mini has proved to be a great success. New models have been added, including the Mini Countryman, the first four- wheel drive model, introduced last September and a car which will debut in the World Rally Championship this year. Others in the line up are the three door Hatch, the Convertible and the Clubman estate, while there are advanced plans for a two door Coupe and Roadster versions of the Hatch. Mini has also just announced a three- door coupe version of the Countryman, to be called the Paceman, which will be launched next year. There are also rumours that Mini will return to its roots soon with a smaller city car heading for production.
Last year Mini sold 234,000 units worldwide, more than 8% up on 2009, with the USA being its largest market.
