Clear signs of improvement in the global aftermarket were reflected last month in a highly successful Automechanika exhibition in Frankfurt. The bi-annual event attracted trade visitors from a record 180 countries, with around 155,000 people attending in all.
The organisers were particularly pleased with visitor numbers from outside Germany, which showed a 5% increase on the 2008. A more positive mood around the industry also saw exhibitor numbers reach 4,486.
Exhibitors showing workshop equipment reported particularly positive developments with many trade buyers now looking to upgrade and invest in the latest technology. Generally exhibitors said that numbers were good and more importantly those attending were showing a much greater inclination to buy new products and services.
Attendance from Ireland appeared to be broadly in line with previous years and for those who did make the journey the majority appear to have had informative and successful trips.
For the Automechanika Frankfurt organisers the planning process for the next show will now begin, with the event due to take place on 18 to 23 September 2012.
