FIA World Rallycross Championship driver Derek Tohill had a roller coaster ride of a weekend at the latest round of the World RX series at the new Mettet circuit in Belgium.

Derek missed much of Saturday morning’s open practice session with a technical problem on his Citroen DS3, but fought back to win his heat two race against experienced Czech driver Pavel Koutny. He also produced a very strong showing against championship front runner Andreas Bakkerud in his last race of the weekend, but problems in other heats meant he had to settle for 25th at the Intermediate Classification.

Without a realistic chance of making it to the semi finals following drama in heat three which saw him go off the track, Derek lead for most of his wet heat four encounter with Andreas Bakkerud only loosing the lead as he took his joker on the final lap.

“It rained a lot in the last heat, but I like the rain and usually go quite well in those conditions. We led for almost the whole race which was really good, at least we ended the weekend at our most competitive.” said Derek.

The LD Motorsports team now have to get everything ready for the cars to be shipped to Canada for the next round of the series on August 7th and 8th.
