J&S offers BMW crankcase breather hoses

J&S Automotive is now offering a specialist range of crank case breather hoses for BMW applications as part of its First Line range.

Crankcase ventilation is a key aspect of modern engine design. Even in a new engine combustion pressure will force vapour and oil deposits past the piston rings and into the crankcase. To avoid a build-up of excess pressure, the crankcase must be vented.

Modern engines use Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) to vent the by-product into the inlet manifold via a PCV valve. This regulates the evacuation of the gases for optimum engine running.

The hoses from the crankcase to the PCV valve often get clogged with oil deposits, and can also turn brittle and split due to the constant heat cycles they endure. The hose is also attacked by the oil itself. This process is often accelerated in the cold weather, so problems can be particularly prevalent at this time of year.

Symptoms of clogged or failed breather hoses are poor idling, lack of engine power and responsiveness, oil fumes and oil leaks.

First Line offers an exclusive range of Crankcase Breather Hoses to fit BMW applications. These are manufactured from OE specified materials and are supplied as a complete assembly units including locating clips and hose clamps. These hoses also come with a 2 year / 24,000 miles warranty. The First Line part numbers and OE references are:
  • FEH1001         OE – 11617504535
  • FEH1002         OE – 11611440317 / 11611432560
