BG provides smoking Passat solution

Replacing key parts is often the solution that a garage will turn to when presented with a smoking and misfiring engine. If this is the case the customer will not be pleased by the eventual bill and the problem will be made much worse if the new parts fail to solve the original issue. In many instances there can be an easier and more cost effective solution as illustrated by a recent case highlighted by Pat Keating at BG Products Ireland.

The car in question was a high mileage VW Passat 2.0D which was emitting black smoke and misfiring on idle. It had also recently had both the turbo and EGR valve replaced. After scanning, a test drive and checking the injectors the technician was running out of options. He then recalled an issue on a similar system and by checking inlet pipes concluded the problem was the intake system was contaminated with carbon and debris.

The owner was reluctant to go to the cost of full system disassembly, so the technician suggested that BG fuel and induction systems cleaner may offer a cost effective alternative. The process is simple and is designed to restore three critical areas of a diesel engine: air flow, atomisation of the fuel injector and compression.

The process took around 45 minutes and on a test drive the hesitation had disappeared instantly and the problem had been fully resolved in about ten miles of driving. The final result was a car running smoothly and a satisfied customer that had saved a lot of cash.

As well as fuel and induction systems cleaner, BG Ireland offers a range of automotive chemicals and equipment for maintaining fuel systems, engines, transmissions, brakes, power steering, cooling, battery, drive line and climate control systems.
