Somora has made an important addition to its Hutchinson timing portfolio with the introduction of the POLY V belt range.

POLY V is a Hutchinson innovation which was developed for vehicle manufacturers to offer greater design flexibility. As an OE supplier, Hutchinson offers one of the most comprehensive aftermarket ranges of POLY V accessory belts, with a wide range of dimensions and number of teeth, which are the main selection criteria.

POLY V was originally developed by Hutchinson for Mercedes in the mid 1980's and was quickly adopted by many other car makers. Silent and able to withstand the new stresses of the more compact engine environment, the ribbed POLY V profile fully meets manufacturers' requirements in terms of drive surface area and complex kinematics. Its flexibility allows it, unlike the V-belt, to drive a number of accessories simultaneously, such as the water pump, alternator, power-assisted steering and air-conditioning, and other options.

The POLY V belt has now totally superseded the traditional V-belt, making Hutchinson the leading original equipment supplier. Unlike other belts on the market, Hutchinson does not machine the teeth in its belts but uses moulds specific to each belt dimension. This is more environmentally friendly and provides greater precision in profiling the teeth guaranteeing an optimal surface quality and limiting any risk of friction noise.

The Hutchinson POLY V range available from Somora offers excellent market coverage and these OE products are also priced to offer excellent value.
