Comline first introduced its successful range of Coated Brake Discs back in 2016 and today 80% of the brand’s vast brake disc range is coated as standard. The unique Comline coating offers benefits to both the technician and the driver and Keith Ellis, Comline’s Director of Braking and Product Development has highlighted what gives these discs an advantage over more traditional painted options.

Keith comments, “Comline's specialised coating is water-based as opposed to oil-based and as such it can be applied to the entire disc and not to just the hub and outer disc edge, this is significant for two reasons. Firstly, from the technician stand point, given the water-based nature of the coating a Comline Coated Disc can be fitted straight out of the box without the need for any time-consuming degreasing.  This may seem like a counterintuitive action as logically you would assume any protective substance would still need to be removed from the friction surface prior to fitment.  However, thanks to its water-based properties Comline's layer is designed to quickly disperse exposing the friction surface within the first few applications of the brakes.”

Keith adds, “Secondly, our unique formulation, which is applied to the whole disc, has been proven to offer far superior levels of protection from unsightly corrosion when compared to traditional oil derived painted options. This is important to motorists who have alloy wheels fitted to their cars, where a rusty disc can have a very negative impact on appearance. Rigorous salt-spray testing for over 220 hours means that Comline’s coated discs always remain pristine mile-after-mile.”

Comline coated brake discs are available from Comline stockist nationwide.
