Jon Pulsford, Autobiz Ireland, discusses some of the key issues affecting the independent aftermarket with Wendy Williamson, Chief Executive of the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF).

Wendy explains some of the vital work that the IAAF does lobbying at EU level to protect the interests of the independent sector, as well as its role as a networking facilitator and in providing vital market information.

Following the recent decision by the UK govt. not to go ahead with a proposed scrappage scheme, Wendy discusses the negative effects that scrappage schemes can have on the independent automotive sector and why such schemes simply do not make sense in terms of jobs and economics.

Wendy also gives her views on the effects that the Covid-19 crisis is likely to have on personal mobility in the future and how the positive reaction of the sector to the crisis and other factors do give some grounds for optimism for many businesses in the independent aftermarket.
