With garages now reopened and many other sectors making a tentative return to work, traffic volumes are rising and many cars are getting back on the road more regularly for the first time in months. It is anticipated that vehicles that have been laid-up, or doing only infrequent shorter journeys. will encounter a variety of problems, with flat batteries being top of the list.

With this in mind, Verona Ellis of Autobiz, speaks to Stephen Lawless of Somora in the latest Autobiz online video interview. Stephen is Sales Manager of Somora, which distributes the popular Yuasa battery brand in Ireland.

Stephen explains why the Irish aftermarket can expect a spike in demand for automotive batteries over the coming weeks and how this is likely to be right across the board, in terms of the age profile of the vehicles and how low voltages can also impact on AGM and EFB batteries.

He then highlights how implementing a simple battery testing process, for all cars entering a workshop, can boost business and customer satisfaction and how Yusa testing kits can make this process straightforward.

Stephen also explains the free online resources that garages can utilise to ensure they are fitting the right battery, find out about battery location, fitting procedures and times and the all important process of coding the battery to the ECU where it is required.  He also talks about the need for garages to charge appropriately for their times and expertise when it comes to batteries.
