Removing door skins from modern vehicles can be a challenge with the possibility of creating collateral damage to bonded adjacent surfaces always a threat. However, with the Inductor Pro-Max Induction Heater & Flameless Torch from Inductor Innovations the whole process can be made much quicker and easier.

The Inductor U-211 Fast-Off Pad is used with the Inductor Pro-Max to release the bond of the metal bond adhesive. Typical removal of a door skin may require chisels and prying, which damages the adjacent surfaces that the door skin is bonded to.

Following the step-by-step Instructions recommended by Induction Innovation the process can be complete quickly and safely:

-    Put on gloves, to protect against heat and sharp edges and prep door shell by removing interior parts.

-    Grind the edge off the old door skin

-    Attach the Fast-Off, set the power control to “high” and step on the foot switch

-    Hold the Fast Off pad on the outside of the door skin, working back and forth along one side until the heated panel begins to lift. This may require a putty knife being place in-between the panel and door frame to begin with

-    Continue heating and lifting

-    Heat the centre of the outer panel along where the intrusion beam is. This will release the panel at this point, leaving the anti-flutter foam in place

-    Flip the door frame over and remove the remains in a likewise fashion

-    Begin prepping the door for new panel

By following this procedure the technician can save lots of time by not having to repair adjacent surfaces, as well as the cost of not having to replace anti-flutter foam or the vapour barrier.
