The NGK-sponsored Great Britain Speedway team has claimed the World championship after racing to success at the FIM Speedway of Nations final in Manchester.

Grand Prix stars Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley overcame Australian duo Jack Holder and Brady Kurtz to take gold at Belle Vue after a thrilling final race.

Great Britain Speedway Team Managing Director Rob Painter was delighted with the victory.

He said, “I’m over the Moon. It was a fantastic performance by Robert, Dan and the whole team. This year we knew we had two riders performing at the highest level, superbly supported by reserve Tom Brennan, team managers Olly Allen and Simon Stead and the mechanics and performance staff who are the unsung heroes.”

Rob also paid tribute to the support NGK has given the sport.

He said: “They have been fantastic over the years, supporting individual riders, clubs and now the Great Britain team for the second time. It is important for us to use the best possible products and NGK is the market leader for our sport with all our riders using NGK spark plugs. We have a great relationship with NGK and really appreciate the company’s support.”

Becca Knight, Marketing Manager of NGK-brand owner Niterra UK Ltd, said: “It was an incredible performance by the Great Britain team to become World champions. This year we decided to increase our level of support for the team and riders because we could see this national team was doing some exciting work towards this great achievement. We are delighted to have helped them become World champions! “
