Lubricant brand Motul is featured in one of this summer’s big movie releases, Gran Turismo, a film based on the real-life story of how the Sony PlayStation top-selling game turned the dream of gamers becoming top level racing drivers into reality.

The film centres around Jann Mardenborough, who won a global competition put together by Sony, Gran Turismo game developer Polyphony Digital and Nissan. The GT Academy ran over several years and its youngest winner, Darlington-born Mardenborough, has arguably been its most successful graduate to date, racing professionally since his 2011 victory. His career took off quickly after the GT Academy victory and he made motorsport headlines with a podium finish at the Le Mans 24 Hours in the LMP2 Category in 2013 in a Motul-branded and lubricated, Nissan-powered Zytek.

“NISMO - the motorsports division of Nissan, has long been an OE Partner of Motul,” explains Motul UK Sales and Marketing Manager, Andy Wait, “and with Nissan providing both the means to Jann Mardenborough’s move to professional motorsport and many of the cars he has driven in his career to date, it was logical that Motul would be a part of the Gran Turismo story.”

Archie Madekwe plays Mardenborough, mentored by veteran racer Jack Salter played by David Harbour. The film also features Orlando Bloom as Motorsport Marketing Excutive, Danny Moore and Geri Halliwell-Horner as Jann’s Mother, Lesley Mardenborough, amongst its cast.
