Leading from the start, Josh Moffett (Ford Fiesta WRC) won the Hotel Kilmore Cavan Rally, round three of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship. 


With his co-driver Keith Moriarty they finished 34.6 seconds ahead of the Fiesta WRC of Donegal’s Declan Boyle and James O’Reilly. Darren Gass (Subaru WRC) and Enda Sherry were 36.4 seconds further behind in third. 

After the first loop Moffett arrived at the Cavan service park with a lead of 8.8 seconds over Boyle, who was quite content with both his pace and position. Boyle had narrowed the deficit to 7.8 seconds on S.S. 4 but  Moffett was quickest again on S.S. 5 and increased his lead to the finish.  It was Moffett’s first win of the season gaining 20 Triton points. 

Meanwhile, on his debut in a Mitsubishi EvoX and in left hand drive for the first time, Down’s Cathan McCourt and his co-driver Grace O’Brien won the Group N category.

In the Junior category, Armagh’s Jason Black (Toyota Starlet) took a dominant victory and finished a minute and 53.4 seconds ahead of the Longford’s Stephen Faughan (Escort) with Armagh’s Gareth Black (Toyota Starlet) a minute and 14.7 seconds further behind.

2. Declan Boyle/J. O'Reilly (Ford Fiesta WRC) 55m. 57.1s.
3. Darren Gass/E. Sherry (Subaru WRC) 56m. 43.5s.
4. Joe McGonigle/C. Geaney (Mini WRC) 57m. 45.9s.
5. Donagh Kelly/C. Foley (Ford Fiesta WRC) 57m. 56.1s.

1. Declan Boyle 59pts;
2. Donagh Kelly 42pts;
3. Joe. McGonigle 44pts;
4. Josh Moffett 38pts
5. Stuart Darcy 35pts
