Irish owned parts distributor, Serfac Limited, has moved into a new specially designed HQ and distribution facility in Tallaght, West Dublin. The new 75,000 sq ft. premises will provide the company with the flexibility to further expand its extensive product portfolio and to hold increased stocks to meet fast rising demand. The state of the art facility will also mean a further boost to logistical capabilities, allowing the Serfac team to service motor factor customers across Ireland, with even greater efficiency.

Established in 1978, Serfac has been a mainstay of the Irish automotive aftermarket for over 45 years, sourcing and distributing many leading brands in parts, components and accessories from all over the world. Throughout its history, the company has placed an emphasis on first class quality and top class service, with a firm focus on original equipment products where required.

Serfac has very much developed with its customers, forming very close working relationships with Irish motor factors, supporting them in all aspects of their business, by offering access to not only leading brands, but also training, marketing support and technical back-up.

Although Serfac remains very much an Irish owned independent company, it is a shareholder in TEMOT International, a leading strategic global automotive network. This relationship allows the company to gain access to the very latest products, information and technology in the wider automotive aftermarket, bringing further direct benefits to Serfac customers.

Serfac has always been renowned for its prompt and effective distribution of products. With expanding demands on stock-holding and product range, the company had to take on two supplementary warehouses in recent years. The management therefore took the decision to consolidate all activities into one central location and began the search for a suitable site. However, at the same time, it was recognised that the existing HQ in an area close to major road links and in an area at the heart of the Irish motor trade was a considerable asset. The fact that a large number of the experienced Serfac team live in the Tallaght area was also critical, regarding the location of the new premises.  As such, the search for a new site concentrated on the surrounding area and the new premises benefit from all of the geographical advantages, while also offering significantly increased space.

The design of the warehouse has been carefully formulated to make product selection as quick and easy as possible, taking full advantage of the latest automated handling and digital logistic developments. This means optimum stock handling and ultimately, motor factors being able to supply their customers more quickly.

Gillian Fanning of Serfac, comments, “The additional space means we can consolidate 3 warehouses, providing improved logistical efficiencies in picking, packing and shipping and thus an enhanced level of customer service.” She adds, “Not only will the additional space allow us to offer increased availability on existing lines, but also to quickly extend our product groups, to cope with ever changing market needs.”

As well as the larger warehouse facilities, the new HQ also offers more office space for the growing customer service and management team. Throughout the design of all sections of the building, there is also a firm emphasis on sustainability, with many innovations designed to reduce the carbon footprint such as, highly energy efficient heating, ventilation and lighting systems.

Gillian concludes, “The aftermarket is changing quickly and we believe that these new premises will provide Serfac with a firm base to build for the future, so that we can continue to provide our customers with the very best in products and service, from a locally based team dedicated to working with independent motor factors throughout Ireland.”
