The 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours proved to be a fruitful hunting ground for Motul, as cars lubricated with its products again took the honours in both the LMP2 and LMGT3 categories.

Motul-lubricated partner teams, using the brand’s 300V engine oil, took victory in both the LMP2 category - with the number 43 Inter Europol Oreca 07 piloted by Jakub Smiechowski, Tom Dillman and Nick Yelloly and in the LMGT3 category, with the #92 Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R of Ryan Hardwick, Riccardo Pera and Richard Lietz.

More than half a century after it launched the era of Fully Synthetic car engine oils, Motul’s flagship 300V lubricant continues to be the standard by which other competition lubricants measure themselves. Motul has refined the 300V range and it now boasts different variants, each tailored to specific needs: Power, Competition and Le Mans, the latter designed for maximum reliability.

LMP2 cars are currently all powered by the same 600 BHP 4.2 litre V8 Gibson GK428 engines and the important announcement was made at Le Mans that Gibson would continue as the engine provider for the next generation of LMP2 cars. This means that Motul 300V will continue to be the oil that all the LMP2 cars leave the factory with.

The move from LMGTE spec cars to the more widely adopted LMGT3 cars in 2024, has meant that barriers to entering and running a car in WEC/Le Mans have eased and, like the Hypercar category, this means it attracts a wide selection of manufacturers. This year again there were nine in all, making it one of the most competitive of all endurance categories. At the end of 24 hours, it was the Motul- lubricated #92 Porsche 911 GT3R LMGT3 of Manthey racing that took the category honours  the second victory in a row at Le Mans for the Manthey organisation.

“Le Mans is incredible. When you consider what a difficult test it is simply to get a car to the finish, the pace and closeness of the racing simply defies logic,” says Motul UK and Ireland Head of Business, Andy Wait. “Huge congratulations to all the Motul entries that finished, and particularly, of course, to all our teams who won or made the podium.”

Alpha carries the full range of Motul products, working in tandem with Motul. This also means that Motul’s dedicated technical back-up is available in Ireland via Alpha Lubricants. For more information contact sales@alphalubricants.ie or phone 021 488 9814.
