Derek Tohill from PartforCars Dublin scored his second victory of the season in the FIA European Rallycross Championship, winning the TouringCar final during the sixth round of the competition at Höljes in Sweden.  It means that Derek has extended his championship lead with just three more events to come.

On the Saturday of competition Derek placed his Fiesta second after setting a fourth and second fastest time in the first day qualification heats. He then improved on this on Sunday, driving the fastest times in both of the remaining heats.

After taking the intermediate classification, Derek then produced an impressive start-to-finish victory in the semi-final allowing him to start the final from pole position, where he once again managed a flag to flag winning performance.

Derek was especially pleased to have beaten many tough competitors on their home turf. He said, “This is absolutely amazing. Winning here at Höljes gives you almost a better feeling then winning the championship. This is like something you work all your life for.”

The next round takes place at Lohéac in France on August 31-September 1.
