Irish Rallycross driver Derek Tohill finished second in the TouringCar final during the fourth round of the 2013 FIA European Rallycross Championship at Kouvola in Finland at the weekend.

Driving his PartforCars Ford Fiesta, Derek set fastest times during the first and second qualifying heats on Saturday and two more fastest times in qualifying runs on Sunday. This meant he started the Touring Car Final from pole. After an eventful race Derek finished second behind Roman Castoral.

After the event Derek commented, “I was very satisfied with the car this weekend. Most important for us was to finish on top of the intermediate classification. As we did not run semi-finals I am glad I could take home the maximum of 16 championship points after the qualifying heats.”

Derek Tohill is now tied for the championship lead with Castoral ahead of the next event in Norway.
