Techron Works, fuel system additives and engine cleaners have been officially launched in the Irish market. The new solutions, backed by the global lubricant and chemical giant Chevron, will be made available to motorists through both franchise dealer workshops and the Advance Pitstop network.

The technology used in Techron Works is already highly successful in many other markets and helps to both boost engine performance and reduce emission and fuel consumption.

At the launch it was explained how a combination of new fuel formulations and the technical drive for greater fuel efficiency means that in petrol engines the combustion chamber, injector tips and valves are prone to a build up of deposits that affect combustion and reduce power and fuel economy. The same is true in diesel engines where deposits also affect the performance of diesel injectors. At best this can mean cars are more costly to run and less enjoyable to drive. It can also make vehicles more susceptible to breakdown and shorten the engine life.
Manually cleaning or replacing the contaminated components can be expensive, while many additives only offer a preventative function or lack the active additive packages to deliver thorough cleaning.

The new Techron Works cleaners, available in diesel and petrol versions, are the result of an intensive research and development programme based on 35 years of experience in this specialist field. Their advanced formula effectively cleans the engine and dissolves deposit build ups. The products are already in use around the world and recommended by many OEMs as an identified service fix for fuel related engine issues.
At the launch, results of independent testing carried out by Emission Analytics were presented. This involved the purchase of 22 cars of varying mileages, makes and models, with a mix of petrol and diesel engines. Each vehicle was subjected to an on the road test using an advanced portable emissions measuring system to produce statistics for before and after Techron application. The results showed with petrol engines there was an average increase in power of 2%, a reduction in emissions of 7.4% and a very impressive increase in miles per gallon of 8.7%. Similar results were found for diesel engines, with power up an average of 3.4%, emissions down 6.5% and improved fuel economy of 7.6%. Results were generally consistent across all vehicles.

Techron Concentrated Plus is the universal solution for all petrol engines and Techron D Concentrate is for diesels. Both require only one application for effective results that will last between 6000 and 10000 miles. Both products are intended for use in a workshop environment and will not be available as retail products direct to motorists. The products will be distributed in Ireland by CC Lubricants and will initially be available via franchise dealer aftersales outlets and the Advance Pitstop Network.
