SKF continues to grow its product range, in particular within the engine-related category. There are now 3,570 different references in this product group.

 One of the biggest growing ranges is timing belt kits complete with water pump (VKMC). SKF always recommends replacing the water pump when changing the timing belt system, as experience has demonstrated that water pump impellers can be prone to collapse, if they are not changed at the same time as the timing system tensioners, pulleys and idlers.   

To guarantee OE performance, SKF has developed a specific AquaMax water pump for a selection of VKMC kits. The pump comes with blue impellers, which have an aerospace industry coating that prevents corrosion from coolant particles, along with spindles with optimum capacity loads and mechanical seals eliminating premature leaks.

SKF also offers some of the VKMC kits complete with a hydraulic piston control unit. These are particularly applicable to VAG engines using the principle of a hydraulic tensioner. The range on these kits covers the popular 1.9TDi up to the larger 2.5TDi engines.

Developments in SKF’s Auxiliary range offer include the launch of the Freewheel Alternator Pulley (FAP) range that includes 75 kits. This is complimented by 10 Multi-V belt kits including Freewheel alternator pulley (VKMAF) as well as 2 toolset kits (VKN 350 and VKN 351). SKF offers all 3 technologies:

- overrunning alternator pulleys
- overrunning alternator decouplers
- rubber alternator decoupling pulleys


Another recent development is in auxiliary belts – all Multi-V belts matching the exact OE length. The size of this product group has increased by 64%, bringing the total to 959 belts and covering over 80% of the car parc in Europe.
