Having just finished his leaving cert, James Roe from Naas, rejoined the British Formula Ford 1600 championship with a win at Donington Park.

Previously he had taken his first FF1600 win in Kirkistown a few weeks ago and with exam pressures long gone, the Team Ireland/Dennison Trailers backed driver topped the times in pre race testing. He then qualified his Bernard Dolan run Van Diemen on the front row of the grid and stormed to a dominant victory in the opening race of the weekend.

Starting from pole position, he repeated the feat later in the second race to do the double, but was subsequently deemed to have been out of position at the start and received a 10 place penalty, dropping him down the order.

"Everything went well and I felt good all weekend. I was disappointed with the penalty but that i s the way things go sometimes. The wins are starting to come now, so a big thanks to my team and sponsors." said James, "Onwards and upwards for the next meeting in Castle Combe this weekend"

James Roe returns to the BRSCC UK National Formula Ford Championship on July 8th and 9th at Castle Combe.
