Abrasives specialist Mirka used Automechanika Frankfurt as an opportunity to preview its new DEOS, direct electric orbital sander. Available in 2017, Mirka says this ultra lightweight electric sander signals a new era in sanding with advanced features such as Bluetooth connectivity and a brushless motor.

Demonstrations of the new Mirka DEOS were a key feature of the busy Mirka stand at the show with bodyshop visitors impressed by the easy handling and flexibility of the design. Mirka says that the sander is built to be low maintenance, ultra reliable and to provide a long service life. It is ideal for bodyfiller and primer sanding applications and the control and ease of operation will mean a greatly reduced need for hand sanding. Low noise levels and reduced vibration also mean increased comfort and reduced fatigue.

The DEOS is also an intelligent smart sander with a vibration sensor and wireless connectivity. This allows it to be used in conjunction with the myMirka app on a mobile device to monitor usage levels and make informed decisions about healthy working, as well as monitoring data and providing advanced warning of service requirements.

The Mirka DEOS will be available in the spring of 2017 and will enable Mirka to offer a complete electric sander range to bodyshops.
