Previous versions of the Gear Tronic system have made automatic oil transmission changes much easier and allowed workshops to perform a fully automatic oil changes for torque converter transmissions, CVTs and DSGs. The new generation, Gear Tronic III is set to make this work even easier and more efficient, opening up even more opportunities for garages. 

Automatic transmissions have grown in popularity in recent years and it is generally recommended that these are flushed and have the fluid changed every 100,000 kilometres. This can be a difficult and time consuming job, however, the Gear Tronic III system can make this simple. 

The new unit has an enhanced 7-inch colour touchscreen display, which shows clear instruction, complete with appropriate connector illustrations from a database of over 2000 models, with automatic regular updates. It is also network enabled so that information can be sent to a computer or printer. The Gear Tronic III drip tray has been increased to 4.6 litres and the drain widened for ease of use.  

Failure to change transmission fluid results in more difficult gear changes and increased wear. There is also the risk on contamination causing mechanical damage to the mechatronics .
