JLM adds Diesel Anti-Bacteria solution

JLM has introduced a new Diesel Anti-Bacteria additive that keeps algae out of diesel and biodiesel fuel tanks, diesel distribution systems and fuel systems. Algae in a diesel fuel tank or system can cause fuel filter blockage problems and damage to fuel pumps and injectors, leading to poor running engines or breakdowns. JLM Diesel Anti-Bacteria can effectively clean the fuel system and is excellent for prevention of such problems.

In an effort to reduce dangerous emission fuel suppliers now add a percentage of biodiesel to the fuel mix. More and more countries are making the use of biodiesel mandatory, with the mixing percentage varying. Diesel containing biodiesel can be recognised by the letter B followed by a number, eg, B5, B15, B20 or B90 are most commonly found. The numbers 5, 15, 20 and 90 indicate the percentage of biodiesel present in the diesel fuel obtained from petroleum.

Aalgae is a bi-product of newer generation biofuels.  The hygroscopic properties of biodiesel create moisture and, especially in high temperatures, means the algae have more of an opportunity to multiply in the fuel storage system and the fuel system. This is compounded by less sulphur in the fuel which would normally limit this growth.

Algae appears as sludge in the fuel storage system and the fuel system and untreated will find its way to the fuel filter, eventually causing blockage leading to a poorly running engine. In this instance changing the filter will only be a temporary solution as the sludge will return if not treated.

Another adverse effect of having algae in the fuel is that they may cause defects in the fuel pump and the diesel injectors. These parts are highly sensitive and even the tiniest particles can cause serious faults.

JLM Diesel Anti-Bacteria contains a product that kills living organisms, such as algae and effectively cleans the fuel system. It also helps to prevent algal growth and protect the system from future issues.

JLM Anti-Bacteria is suitable for all fuel storage systems, fuel transport systems and all diesel engines with and without turbos, and all common rail systems that run on regular diesel fuel. It is available in 250ml and I litre containers from JLM stockists.
